Product Description

COL1A1 (Human Collagen type I, alpha-1 chain) Antibody, Mouse Monoclonal [MA321B-100 or MA321B-025]

GenHunter currently has monoclonal antibodies against Collagen Type I & III, 4 monoclonal antibodies against Endo180, & 1 against Trimer-Tag (Human CICP, Type I Collagen). See below for more info.

Collagen
is the most abundant structural protein in mammals, constituting roughly 25-30% of total body protein. It acts as the major component of extracellular matrix and the primary "glue" or scaffolding providing strength, elasticity, and structural support to skin, bones, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissues.

Structure
Triple Helix: Collagen is characterized by a unique triple-helix structure, where three polypeptide alpha-chains are tightly wound together, creating a rigid and strong configuration.
Amino Acid Composition: It is rich in glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline, with glycine appearing every third amino acid, allowing for a tight, stable packing.
Hierarchical Assembly: These triple-helix molecules, known as tropocollagen, assemble into fibrils that form fibers and networks.
Types: There are at least 28 different types, with Type I being the most common, accounting for 90% of the collagen in the human body. Functions
Structural Integrity: Provides tensile strength and structure to skin, bone, tendons, cartilage, and ligaments, ensuring they can withstand stretching.
Tissue Repair and Growth: Essential in the extracellular matrix to support cell migration, tissue regeneration, and wound healing.
Elasticity and Health: Maintains skin elasticity and supports joint health.
Organ Protection: Acts as a protective covering for organs and aids in blood vessel structure.

Collagen production naturally declines with age, leading to decreased tissue strength.

Type III collagen is a vital fibrous protein and the second most abundant type of collagen in the human body. It is a key structural component of the extracellular matrix (ECM) found in soft, extensible tissues, particularly in the skin, lungs, intestines, and the walls of blood vessels. It works alongside Type I collagen to provide structural integrity, elasticity, and support for tissues that need to expand and recoil.
