Still cutting your own Western blot membranes? Save time, effort, and reduce waste with The PerfectMembrane!

Features:

Available in standard 0.45 um and 0.2 um filter pore sizes

   Move well during incubation

   Save time and materials

   Half the cost of competitors

   Available in 10, 25, 50, and 100 sheet packs

3 sizes:

   8.3 x 6 cm (Medium, for standard mini-gels such as Bio-Rad Mini-PROTEAN 3, etc)

8.3 x 7.3 cm (Mini Square, for longer mini-gels such as Invitrogen/Novex XCell SureLock Mini, etc)

13.5 x 8.5 cm (Extra Large, for larger precast gels such as Bio-Rad Criterion or Invitrogen Midi)

4 materials:

PVDF, 0.45 um: Standard PVDF with 0.45 um pore size for most proteins (> 20 kDA)

PVDF, 0.2 um: 0.2 um pore size for smaller proteins (< 20 kDA) or Sequencing

PVDF, Fluor: Optimized for fluorescence, extremely low background compatible with most imagers, 0.45 um pore size)

Nitrocellulose: Standard NC with 0.45 um pore size for most proteins (> 20 kDA)

Should I use PVDF or Nitrocellulose?
GenHunter prefers PVDF for the reasons shown below. However, we know that some customers prefer Nitrocellulose, so we offer both types.

Advantages of PVDF:

  • Better protein retention (Pluskal, BioTechniques. 1986, 4:272)
  • Much more durable allowing easier handling due to higher mechanical strength
  • Higher binding capacity (100-200ug/cm^2) vs. NC (80-100ug/cm^2)
  • Lower concentrations detected: Requires 5X less antigen, 20X less serum, 10X less secondary antibody (Dalessio, J. Clin. Micro. 1992, 30:1005)
  • Superior chemical resistance makes it ideal for staining and re-probing
